Sally's Children's Trust Projects

SCT was setup to provide financial support for one project; the Stephen Kanja water project. After successfully raising further funds we decided to extend SCT's aims to complete a further two projects, the renovation and rebuild of Muhaka School and Chanukeni Orphanage.

Each project is carefully considered and monitored to ensure that Trust funds are used as efficiently as possible.

Our guiding principle is to work in close cooperation with the local community at all times. We believe that community involvement at all levels is crucial to the success and sustainability of any rural development programme, especially in the field of education.

Consequently all projects benefit from local initiative and participation. We work closely with community members when identifying and prioritising projects. Where possible we will encourage the community to assist with building projects and similar undertakings, since they will be community-owned when they are completed. Schools often act as the focus for a specific community in the absence of a single unifying religion (the number of different denominations in Kenya is huge), and it is important that the development of a school involves the whole community if it is to be effective.
