Sally’s Children’s Trust (“SCT”) was founded on 6 October 2006 by Andrew Freeman, David Freeman and Shona Gow, in memory of Sally Roberts who lost her life in Kenya.
Sally, who was from Worthing, worked in the police force and was dedicated to working in child protection. Whilst in Kenya she visited a deprived village where few children got the opportunity to have an education.
On visiting the Stephen Kanja school in the village Sally was so moved by the experience that she committed herself to paying a teacher's wages for a year and vowed to go back to the school to teach and make improvements.
Sally's irrepressible determination to do the right thing has been realised in the formation of Sally's Children's Trust, and we would like to ask you all to help fulfil her dream by building better lives for the children of Kenya.
In her memory the Trustees, supported by family and friends, recognised that by raising awareness back in the UK of the conditions these children endure they were able to assist in raising money to address these issues.
After the initial water project idea was presented in the UK by the Camp Kenya organisation it was decided that a formal charitable body needed to be set up so that money could be raised and spent effectively.
SCT aims to create a network of sponsors who want to make a positive difference to the standards of living and educational opportunities available to the children in Kenya, and in turn enabling SCT’s impact to be as far-reaching and sustainable as possible.
